1953 Cadillac Series 60

Cadillac series 60 was a very special model. Out of all Cadillac models, 1953 Cadillac Series 60 was the most successful one. In fact, it had record-breaking sales. The story of Cadillac car started in 1936. Originally, it was a mid-sized car which received a lot of attention from everyone. Nicholas Dreystadt was the creator of this iconic model. 1953 Cadillac Series 60 used Monobloc V8 engine which could supply 125 horsepower.

Initially, Sixty Special name was booked for low end cars, but finally, the most luxurious cars got this Sixty Special name. Sixty Special models were really special. From 1938 to 1941, was the first part of Sixty Special car. Then, in 1942, the car received major redesigns. The interior was made very nice. Initially, only two models were available Standard sedan and imperial sedan, but they had really good sales.

1947: Because of the World War, the production stopped. In 1947, it did not have a lot of changes as everything was made for 1948 model. “sombrero” wheel covers were made for the 1947 model.

1948: This year Sixty Special experienced major redesigns. Electric window lifts and two-way power bench seat were added. Also, side-scoops and tail-fins were featured.

1949: This model was very compact to look at. It was lighter, but the engine had rating 10 hp more than the previous one. This car could accommodate six passengers.

1952: This year was the Golden anniversary of Sixty Special model. Minor changes were made; only engine power was increased to 190 horse power.

1953: New 12 volts electrical system was added for the first time, and it could supply 210 horsepower. Also, “Autronic Eye” was added. The car lovers also got five true wire-wheels rims paying 325 dollars extra. 1953 Cadillac Series 60 experienced record-breaking 20,000 sales.

1962 Cadillac DeVille

Cadillac DeVille was first produced in 1949. It was a very luxurious car. It was so popular that the production continued until 2005. Then, it was replaced by DeVille touring Sedan. DeVille name was chosen because of the body styling. DeVille means Town. It is a French word.

1956: In 1956, a 4-door hardtop was added to Sedan de Ville model.

The designs kept changing. The fourth generation of Cadillac car started in 1965. The new look was very sharp. New headlights replaced the old tailfins, and in 1960, 472 cu inch engine was added.

1968: The designs of Cadillac kept improving. A V8 engine with 375 horsepower was added.

1971: From 1971 to 1976 the fifth generation cars were released. The engine remained the same 472 cu inch.

1974: This model had airbags, very important for security while driving. Also, “d, Elegance” package was added. This nice package was available until 1984. Customers did love this package.

1975: The front end of the car was redesigned. Also, the new 500 V8 engine with 210 horsepower was added.

1977: This year was the 75th anniversary of 1962 Cadillac DeVille. Also, the sixth generation started this year. The sixth generation cars were one foot shorter and half ton lighter than the previous cars.

1985: Seventh generation released.

1989: Eight generation released.

1994: Ninth generation released.

2000-2005: Tenth generation started, and LED tail lamps were added.
