1970 Pontiac GTO

1970 Pontiac GTO was produced from 1964 to 1974. This model is believed to be the first muscle car ever, though the manufacturer does not produce muscle car anymore. This 1970 Pontiac GTO model experienced a lot of experiments with each and every part including its body and engine. “The judge” is one of the best forms of this model. The name was derived from a famous TV show called “Laugh In.” There was a quote “Here comes the Judge.” John Zechary DeLorean was the man behind 1970 Pontiac GTO. He invented this unique car. It was unique because unlike all muscle cars produced those days, this 1970 Pontiac GTO was not too big, but capable of generating a lot of speed. It was made with medium sized engine, so the speed was not a matter of concern like all other muscle cars. GTO means Gran Turismo Omolgato.

1966: This year was great for this car. It was sold 75,000 pieces, and when the redesigns were made it was sold 96,946 more pieces.

1969: Once again, the changes continued. It used 370 horsepower and Ram Air III V8. The sales decreased to 72,000 pieces.

1970: The redesigns continued. Four exposed headlamps were included. The engine was changed to 360-500 horsepower, but the sales decreased to 40,000 pieces.

1971: Unfortunately, the sales continued to decrease. It became only 10,000 pieces.

1972: Famous “the judge” and “convertible” models were not available anymore. The manufacturer stopped producing them. The sales were about 5,800.

1973: Only 4,806 pieces were sold. Unfortunately, they were not considered muscle car anymore as the engine rated only 230-250 horsepower.

1974: It was the last year of 1970 Pontiac GTO. Only 7,000 pieces were sold.

Specifications: It was produced from 1964 to 1974. The price ranges from 830 dollars to 3600 dollars. It weighs 3690 lbs or 1673.756kg.

Sales: According to 168 auctions, the average sales value is 54,314 dollars, the lowest is 2 dollars, and the highest is 360,000 dollars. From 2006, the sales have been good.
